[gclist] Weak Pointers

Dear GC gurus,
   I have been considering to implement weak pointers in my system
(notably to build remember tables and other such annotations),
but am wondering how to do that efficiently,
in such a way that weakly pointing objects be properly updated
(which I guess encompasses finalization).
   Are there any papers or implementations that I could read about that
subject ?
