The discussions on this list are very interesting, and I would like to
take the occasion to thanks the regular contributors to this list. But
to be able to catch on about the next abocve proposed topic, I lack
one (major :-) piece of information: what is "region inferencing"
actually?

A full dissertation is not necessary, a few lines would be fine.
