Of course: ECLS derives from ECoLisp.

No, not a big improvement. :-)

I thought that ECLS introduced some bugs or incompatibilities
along with "modernization".

I downloaded DJGPP and I will try tomorrow (3:00 AM here) to build
the version of ECoLisp for DOS (+ extender) so that it can run on
Windows 9x/NT in a DOS box, than to compile Slate.
