seeing self code is of absolutely no use without knowing what's in the
papers.  self code looks smalltalkish, but that wont' tell you a bit about
the semantic features.

anyway, if you partout can't print ps, you should go to your library and
borrow (or order from a remote library) the proceedings and periodicals in
which a lot of the self papers appeared.  see the that may be a hassle, but
it's worth it, believe me.  hmm, come to think of it, i suppose it's easier
to get access to a ps printer _somewhere_.
