Allright, I'd better explain myself, since I'm taking some heat on the Tunes
list.  UniOS people, consider this my introduction:

I only got into this stuff last year (language/OS/hardware development,
networks, distributed computing).  Before that, I ignored computers for a
year or so; I was sick of them.  Previously I was a C programmer (I even
took a course in it) and I worked on mostly 3D and sound stuff, and before
that, computer mischief.  I didn't even finish high school, and I've been
through two years of college without taking any CS courses.  Now I've
managed to get into some pretty advanced stuff, in spite of my lack of CS
knowledge.

I know what I'm doing, but I don't know the all scientific terminology for
it, and frankly I don't give a damn.  Every science has its own language
now... it's ludicrous!  Plus, most of the 'scientific work' looks like
bullshit to me; scientists make some minor discovery, bury it in jargon, and
pass it off as Nobel Prize material.  I'm feeling very skeptical about
academia.  I'm a firm believer in honesty, plain language, and practicality. 
To hell with the establishment!  (If I've insulted anyone, don't argue with
me.  I've simply stated my opinion.)

May 21st I get my 2-year degree.  I'm gonna try my hand at business... I'm
sick of the computers we're stuck with.  "Real computers for the masses!"
Retro started as a toy, but I got serious about it when I started planning
my business strategy.  I need an OS that can handle my new machines.  It's
gotta be a fresh start.  I want something nice and simple, practical,
efficient, easy, and free.  If Tunes comes together and meets its goals,
that's what I want my machines to run.  Even if my business is a complete
failure, I still want this new OS.

No I don't believe in Artificial Intelligence.  Even if it's possible, I
won't trust it.  Sure it's very intriguing, but it's a joke right now, a
game.  I hope you all realize the limitations of mathematics and
computers... you can't achieve perfection.  Just think "Godel, Church,
Turing..." :)

As for Tunes... there's a split between the "write the damn OS" people and
the "design the framework first" people (Fare seems to straddle the line). 
I like Alan's idea of building Tunes on top of UniOS.  UniOS could be the
pragmatic side, providing useful things like persistent storage.  In that
case, why don't I join UniOS and transform Retro into UniOS.  I should just
stay out of the bleeding-edge computer science mumbo jumbo for awhile. 
Eventually, after I've studied more 'real math', Hofstadter, etc, maybe I'll
understand you guys.  I'm not leaving Tunes, just getting my priorities
straight.
