It wouldn't be needed.  What IS needed is "appropriate supporting
code", which means probably support for running 8-bit 8086 code,
or 16bit 80x286 code in REAL mode on the 386,
or other such incredibly insane stuff that makes UNIX look like rocket
science!  ;)
