I have replaced the script now with a "make edit" rule which does the  
same thing.

This avoids permissions issues as well as simplifies the explanation  
needed in the README.

I have also adjusted the slate.image build rule so that the Makefile  
will not re-run the booting of big/little.image unless they are newer  
than slate.image. This means that "make newboot" will not always  
rebuild slate.image every time, which felt like a big waste of time  
to me, since I'm always running it. :)
