drivers (was: Tunes ballot)

I think it is best to forget about reusing drivers from
other OSes. I too consider Linux drivers a fantastic
source of information about PC hardware, but no more
than that.

Please have a look at the Apertos driver papers,
specially the OOPSLA95 "SCONE" paper (I don't have
the exact URL, but they are easy to find starting
from the Tunes pages). They compare Unix style
drivers with their alternative using parallel objects
and continuations.

Let's not put new wine in old caskets...
