CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
2nd ECOOP Workshop on Object-Orientation and Operating Systems
(ECOOP-OOOSWS'99).
CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
The workshop aims to bring together researchers and developers working on
object-oriented operating systems and to provide a platform for discussing
problems arising from the application of object-orientation to operating
systems and solutions for them.
TOPICS
Suggested topics for position papers and discussions include, but are not
restricted to:
* adaptable and adaptive OOOS,
* frameworks for OOOS,
* architecture of OOOS,
* distributed OOOS and middleware (e.g. CORBA),
* what are the penalties of OO in OS and how to avoid them,
* reflective OOOS,
* OOOS tools,
* reusability and interoperability of OOOS components,
* OOOS configurability, maintenance, tuning and optimization,
* OOOS for embedded systems,
* real-time OOOS.
The programme of the workshop consists of a talk given by an invited
speaker, position paper presentations, discussions, and a summary session.
Presented Papers will be considered for publication as a part of the
ECOOP'99 workshop reader.
HOW TO APPLY
Prospective participants of the workshop are asked to submit a
position paper or experience report (up to 5 pages). It is advisable
to use the LaTeX2e LNCS style for this, see
http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html.
The papers should be submitted in PostScript format electronically till
April 16th, 1999 to

Attendance to the workshop is limited to facilitate lively discussions.
Participation will be by invitation only, based on the organizing
committee's evaluation of the submission. Accepted participants will be
notified by May 3rd, 1999. Accepted position papers will be distributed
among the participants electronically prior to the workshop.
