This has also come up on the IRC channel.  I think what would happen is
all the discussion areas would gain another method of access.  Each area
would have a corresponding mailing list AND newsgroup (tunes.* or some
such), so whichever way was convenient for the individual.  If this
happened, I would look for some kind of web-interface to News to use to
replace the current web-interface to Mailing Lists.  Then people could
post from the web as well.  I haven't started doing any of this, and
anyone volunteering to help would speed it up.
