[virtmach] C++ to Java VM ByteCode

Is it possible to create a C++ compiler which can also create java byte
code(jave compatable byte code). If so, what are the pros and cons of that.
Is there any kind of good reference material which has this concept. Is
there any kind of C++ compiler which does this?
