For my two cents worth -

I think that there are several projects here, a LispOS, an implementation 
approach with VMs, and application level Lisp activities.

If we could pick a common core language and OS interface model then the three
can easily coexist and people would be driven by their own interests and could
work in parallel. The core would be pewerful enough to implement a CLOS/MOP
equivalent and also support scheme ideas. 

My personal desire is to have Lisp as a commercially acceptable language for 
general application development.
